Poetry, la poesía de Francisco X Alarcón

To complement our talk about farm workers we are memorizing and illustrating this poem. I love the poetry of Francisco X Alarcón. I'm sad that he is no longer around to create more poetry, but I am thankful for the beautiful words that he left for us. His words have inspired my art and my lessons as a teacher too.

As we are always trying to remember how many and which books we have read it occurred to me to create a reading log to keep track. I'm sharing it here for those who need and want to print it. There is a black and white version as well.

This month we also celebrate Dolores Huerta's Birthday and the work she has done for children and farmworkers rights. We also recognize the important work that Larry Itliong did for Filipinos and all farmworkers in the UMW movement.
